Most look at translation as a conversion, straight through, from one language to another. It is astonishing to find that given two languages (such as Japanese and English) that were developed in significantly different cultures, language comparisons and "exact" translations are sometimes hard to find. This is why we consider ourselves craftsmen, wordsmiths, if you will, to see characters in Japanese and find the best way to provide the same meaning in English. |
